After successfully running a live t-shirt printing session at creative production studio TMG, it inspired me to think about designing and screen printing my own t-shirts.

So at this year's Lady Bay Arts Festival Weekend, I launched these 'Livin' the Lady Bay Way' T-shirts celebrating our fabulous community here where I live in Lady Bay. The design is inspired by all things relating to the natural landscape around Lady Bay; foliage to represent our local nature reserve The Hook, the River Trent, our new bridge and the iconic Heron (there is a Heron sculpture at each entrance into Lady Bay).

The initial design was painted in black ink on paper - I chose this method to keep the brush strokes loose. I drew inspiration from t-shirts I wore as a kid in the 80's and 90's - emulating the line strokes of designs like Fido Dido, the paintings of Australian artist Ken Done (his work was big in Hong Kong in the 90s!), and t-shirts designed by my Dad and Uncle for their running club.

I then tidied up the design digitally, and added the typography, followed by screen printing a batch of t-shirts by hand from my studio.
